about

‘Jump In’ is the opening track from Ceitidh Mac’s Seabird EP. Giving it a whole new dimension, is the new Rubber Oh remix.

Rubber Oh is the solo project of Sam Grant, best known as guitarist and producer of Newcastle based metal band Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs.

Ceitidh Mac originally recorded ‘Jump In’ at Blank Studios in Newcastle with Sam Grant as recording engineer/producer. An introduction to the sonic world of the Seabird EP, playing with depth and layers.

Sparked from a prompt given by Laurel Halo from a book called The Hundreds ‘Writing throws the world together, pulling the writer in tow, into contact with a slackening, a brightening, a muffling. Something saturates with physicality and potential. There is a pond and then the occasional water bug skimming it’s surface’

The Rubber Oh remix, with added synths and signature distortion adds to the depth of the track, and expands on the ideas. The sound of Rubber Oh, best described in Sam Grant’s words.. “It’s easier to describe it materialistically than by any other way.” he reasons “I want people to imagine that feeling of rubber - its physical memory, the unnatural vibe of it. It’s so tactile but alien, but also difficult not to know. It’s an odd analogy, but that’s what this music is for me.”

lyrics

I pick up a stone and throw it in the water.
See as the surface ripples
Circles form and
disappear..
I jump in
